Stewardship
Stewardship starts with the understanding that all that we have -- our time, our treasures, our talents and even our existence -- come as a gift from God. We did nothing to earn them, rather they were freely given to us. It is our task then to use those gifts as God would have us do. Stewardship is not a fund drive. It is our basic relationship with God. He gives to us and we respond to Him in how we use those gifts. In that relationship we are invited to be stewards of all those gifts, using and respecting them in a way that shows how grateful we are to be apart of God’s creation. In our annual giving to the Church we exercise our responsibility to care for God’s church as good stewards, but more important to acknowledge all that God has given us by returning a part of it to Him. We strive to follow the example of the servant in the parable of the coins, so that we also may be called ”a good and faithful servant,” and enter into our Master’s house. |
