LANDSCAPE CLEAN UP – SATURDAY, MARCH 18, 9:00am – 11:00 am
(Rain Date: April 8, 2017)
Spring weather or not, it’s time to do a spring clean-up on the grounds at Holy Trinity. We are planning a combined effort on Saturday, March 18 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. We would appreciate any time you could give us, even 1-2 hour. We would be grateful for any work you could do: hand trimming, weeding, raking, edging, machine trimming, filling bags, blowing, and general encouragement. Please wear old clothes and bring gloves, knee pads, clippers, trowel, weeder, lopper, hand saw, shovel, rake (whatever you like to use), tarps, blower, or a truck. We will have trash bags and bins, a ladder. I will be there with a list of chores and will be happy to give direction. Please email me to let me know whether and when you will be able to come. Thank you so much for helping out! Please also feel free to call a friend you think may want to join in the fun!

Join us for a spectacular performance by The American Spiritual Ensemble, an amazing group of opera singers dedicated to keeping the American Negro Spiritual alive. Founded in 1955 by Dr. Everett McCorvey, The American Spiritual Ensemble is dedicated to helping to preserve spirituals, Christian songs created by African salves describing their values and hardships. Dr. McCorvey is the Director of the ASE, Director and Executive Producer of the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre, and the Artistic Director of the National Chorale at Lincoln Center, New York City.
Members are comprised of opera singers who perform with the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Houston Grand Opera, San Francisco Opera, Boston Opera, and the Atlantic Civic Opera. In addition to performing, some are professors at leading universities, vocal health experts, and active in arts organizations.
In 2016, the ASE performed in the Midwest, Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee as well as touring in Spain. In April, they performed a concert with Kathleen Battle, singing songs of the Underground Railroad. In addition they performed a concert with the Minnesota Public Radio. This September the ASE is in residency at Salisbury University (Salisbury MD) as part of the Ruth Starr Rose Exhibit. The ASE has consistently filled Holy Trinity with the power and joy of music. This concert is not to be missed.
